Emeli Sande at King Tuts

I first took shots of Emeli at the Oran Mor 2007 - she was attracting attention then for her big soul voice. Since then she has had several chart hit singles - and worked with artists both in London and the US. She states her music as soul and rock with an edge. It was nice to meet her and have a chat at her King Tuts rehearsal in November 2010.

Snow shades

In December 2010 Scotland had some of the heaviest snow falls in living memory - the main motorway between Edinburgh and Glasgow came to a stand still. The winter colours in the low light though were quite wonderful - vivid yet subtle.

Tim Robbins and The Rogues - Oran Mor

Tim Robbins and his 6-piece band, the Rogues Gallery, played a highly entertaining set that went down well with a packed Oran Mor. I was looking forward to hearing Mr Robbins live. Just a few months back I'd read Tim's thoughts on Dylan - and that his favourite song of all time was Join's 'A Case of You.' I thought here's a guy with good taste in music - plus he acted the lead role in one of the best movies ever made. Tim Robbins is an American actor, screenwriter, producer, activist and musician. He is known for his roles as Nuke in Bull Durham, Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption. When I think of Tim Robbins - I always think of that scene in 'Shawshank Redemption' movie when Tim's character took over the prison office and played some Chopin music over the loudspeakers - "If you can live through music, art or literature they are avenues of freedom. The music was like a beautiful bird and everyone felt free. " What a cool legend the guy is, I loved his gig Oran mor. It was truly a pleasure sir, and much respect to you.

Hurts Oran Mor

Hurts at the Oran Mor as part of their first sold out UK tour. They played tracks from their new album 'Happiness' - including 'Wonderful Life' and 'Better Than Love'. They play 80s style synth pop with big melodies. They are a British duo from Manchester with singer Theo Hutchcraft and keyboard player Adam Anderson - and released their debut single, "Better Than Love" in 2010, the song "Illuminated" was the soundtrack to Sky1 HD's advert in spring/summer 2010. Hurts will be supporting the Scissor Sisters on their UK tour.

Edinburgh book Festival 2010

-->
I had a bonny time at Edinburgh festival where character, poetry, art and music flourish for a few sunny weeks - actually it was freezing also in the press pod! I am incredibly proud of my book festival shoots - and such diverse, colourful and memorable figures from the worlds of Irish poetry, political thought, children's authors, dramatic thrillers, autobiographies and more - including Irish poet Seamus Heaney. www.pkimage.co.uk. This is the first serious portraits shots I've taken, and there were many famous faces at the festival. Posted here are 3 of the new authors -
Irene Sabatini from Zimbabwe and her book The Boy next Door which looks at the journey from independence to the chaos of today. Pumla Dineo Gqola from South Africa and her book What is slavery to me? And Paolo Giordano who is an Italian writer who won Italy's premier literary award, the Premio Strega, with his first novel The Solitude of Prime Numbers. He is also a professional Physicist.

Library Tearoom

Library Tearoom Callander. This was such a special tearoom I just had to try to capture the care and beauty that went into this cafe with it's fairy lights and love in this old wooden library. The food and cakes were out-of- this world. I had the most scrumptious meringue which had a delicate crust and hot rhubarb sauce - mouth watering! It was near Rob Roys grave north of Callander.

Edinburgh festival 2010

I grew up in Edinburgh - and for the month of August the city buzzes with festival fever. It's the worlds' biggest international festival - mostly comedy and theatre. But also with music, art, the book festival (one of the biggest) and street theatre. It is so vast its hard to know were to start. It's a lot of fun for photos and one of my favourite times.

Sandy Bells

-->Sandy Bell's folk bar I used to haunt in my younger days when I dated this folk guitarist - such great FUN - many memories there. In the hub of Sandy Bells where smiles say it all - feet stomp, fiddle bows fly - and I reflect on those who have played here before.
